Happy New Year, Everyone And welcome to another issue of YOUR World Today.  This begins our 6th year of publishing this newsletter and it is because of you.  Thank you so much for staying with me year after year.

Well, today begins a new era in the United States as we swear in a new President.  It is a time of new beginnings and hope for better days abounds.

May 2009 bring you joy, harmony and prosperity. 

Now on to our discussion!  Let's continue to focus on "Successful Affiliate Marketing".

Affiliate marketing is just one of many ways in which you can create a very successful online business. This method
of marketing has proven to be hugely successful for many online business owners and it can allow you to attain the level of income that you have dreamed of achieving.
 
By far one of the most effective ways of promoting any affiliate product - and increasing your bottom line - is through the use of product recommendations.
 
If you've built a relationship with your customers or readers and they already trust your judgment, then they will definitely trust your recommendations which in turn will see you gain a good return for your efforts.
 
But you need to be very careful in using this approach. If you start recommending everything you see, your credibility
will begin to wear thin. This is particularly important when recommendations seem exaggerated or without any proof.
 
With this said, not all your recommendations have to be glowing testimonials. Don't be afraid to mention things that you do not like about a product or service. Rather than lose any points, this will make your recommendation more realistic and will tend to increase your credibility.
 
Furthermore, if your readers are really interested in what you are offering, they will be more than delighted to learn
what is good about the product, what is not so good, and how the product will benefit them.
 
When you are writing about a product, here are some points to remember to make it work effectively for you.
 
1. Price resistance diminishes in direct proportion to trust...
 
If your visitors feel and believe that you are an expert in your niche, they are more inclined to make a purchase.
 
On the other hand, if you are not exuding any confidence and self-assurance in endorsing the products, they will probably feel the same way and will go in search of another product or service which is more believable.
 
How do you establish this aura of expertise?
 
By offering unique and new solutions they would not get anywhere else. Show proof that what you are promoting works
as promised. Refer to prominent testimonials and endorsements from respected and known personalities.
 
2. Avoid hype at all costs...
 
It is better to sound low key and confident, than to scream and seek attention. You don't want to sound
unprofessional and get a reputation for hyping products just to make a sale.
 
And remember; prospects are not stupid. They are actually turning to experts and may already know the things that you
know.
 
So if you are able back up your claims with hard facts and data, they will gladly buy what you are promoting if this
is what they are looking for. But if you can't provide proof, they are smart enough to try and look at your
competitors and what they are offering.
 
3. When recommending a product, it is also important that you provide bonuses...
 
Many marketers are already familiar with the concept of offering bonuses or freebies when promoting their own
products. But very few do this to promote affiliate products. So doing this will help to make you stand out from the crown.
 
When offering bonuses, provide products that are highly relevant to the product or service you are promoting. Doing this will have a huge impact on your results.
 
4. Test the product your promoting...
 
Before you add recommendations to a product, it is imperative that you buy and test the yourself before you make any recommendation. Do not run the risk of promoting junk products and services just to make a quick buck.
 
If you do this, it's only a matter of time before you will be found out. Just think how long it took you to build credibility and trust among your visitors. All that will take to destroy it is one big mistake on your part. Only recommend products that you have 100% confidence in... it's
just not worth the risk!
 
And most importantly... don't forget to test the support to ensure that the people you are referring it to would not be left high and dry when a problem suddenly arose. If they run into problems and can't get help, the first person they
will blame is you!
 
Have a look at your promotions and look at the strategies you are using. You may not be focusing on the recommendations that your products need to increase sales. Your plan of action is sometimes not the only thing that is making your program work.

If Only I Had Known...

Hindsight, we all know only too well, is a wonderful
thing. For example, if we had only known that the ceiling on membership at a popular site was going to be subscribed so quickly - we would have joined up the minute we heard about it.

If we had only known that niche marketing was going to be so wildly popular we would have focused on that instead of M*L*M.

If we had only known that Google was going to change its algorithm and the rules of AdWords were going to change we would have...

Stop.

Stop, stop, stop.

In the world of Internet marketing, you can safely bet that the only constant is the rate of change!

There's always news of the latest product dropping into your email inbox. There's always another promise of quick and easy money. Google will keep changing its algorithm, and new search engines are quite likely to pop up to challenge Google.

What can you do about this? Four main things:

1 - Continue to Educate Yourself!

Understand that those who rise to the top of any field - whether it's internet marketing or something else - are good at what they do. This means that they never stop learning. There are always new materials, new techniques and probably new 'experts' showing the way.

 

Most of us learn in three main ways: (a) from experts who specialize in a certain niche related to our field; (b) from others who are following the same path as we are, and (c) by trial and error, from our own results.

You will find that the more you immerse yourself in the world of internet marketing, the more you will be able to analyze which products, services and opportunities are right for you.

 

2 - Focus. Pick One System and Give It a Fair Go!

 

Countless people who start out on the internet with high hopes follow the same pattern. They get excited about a new product or system. They throw themselves into it and invest long hours (and potentially quite a bit of money) in getting it up and running.

It might be e-books sold from mini-sites; it might be
setting up an eBay business; it might be directory-type sites with text manipulators; it might be AdWords or content sites optimized for AdSense.

Then one day they get wind of another new system (probably one created by someone who claims "the gurus are angry with me for giving away all their secrets..."). Discouraged by the lack of results with the first "opportunity", they decide to let it rest for a while and try the new one.

Back they go into the cycle of try-the-new-product, get-discouraged, discard-it-and-try-the-next-thing.

And so it goes on. Months pass. Perhaps years pass. They struggle to pay the credit card bills mounting from buying into every new system that comes along... with very little money coming in to offset their 'investment'.

As they look back, they start muttering "If I had only known then what I know now..."

If you can recognize yourself in this scenario, the good news is this: Now you DO know better. You don't know what the next new product will be that's going to set the internet world abuzz, but you do know enough to choose a system that's right for you and stick to it.

 

3 - Take the Time to Plan!

Give yourself from two to four weeks to regroup. Go
through all the products you have on your shelves or on your computer. Make a list. Decide which products you know (so wise with hindsight!) to be worth keeping. Then analyze the 'keepers' and pick on the best system for YOU to use at this time.

(This will depend upon your level of knowledge and which one you would enjoy most. Work with your strengths.)

Finally, devise a game plan. You are going to focus on this ONE method and devise a practical time-line to achieve results. Don't be in a rush. Make sure you give yourself enough time to see it 'take hold' so the money starts flowing in. That will give you the motivation to continue.

Clear the decks, physically as well as mentally. Put all the products that don't fit in with your plan in boxes or on disk for safekeeping. You may return to them one day, but if you've chosen the system that's right for you, you probably won't.

4 - Don't Get Distracted by New Products!

Resolve to buy ONLY products or services that will save you time or money in implementing the system you have chosen.

 

Never buy anything on impulse. Print out the sales letter, read it through, then put it aside. Read it through again the next day. Does it still seem so appealing? Check out a few forums to listen to the buzz.

If a product doesn't deliver, you'll soon hear about it. If it is exceptional value, you'll hear about that, too.

Some questions to ask: "Will this help me to streamline the business I have chosen? Is it worth the money? Will it make a significant difference?" And above all, "Do I need this, or is it just another distraction?"

Resolve to make this the year you will succeed. No more pocket change. No more "If I had only known..."

You DO know.

 So make it work!

free ads, or accept articles. Now if the affiliate program you joined doesn't supply you with pre written ads, you can make up your own. Go back to the sales page (click on your
Golf Link) and slowly read through it. Open up notepad and write some of the great things about this ebook and why anybody would want to buy it. Just 5 lines are enough for starters.

Consider writing a short golf related article; don't say you can't do it. Just sit down at the computer and pretend you're telling a friend about the best time of the day and what day of the week is the best time to play golf. After you have finished the article and gone over it so it sounds pretty interesting; you need to put a resource box under
the article. A resource box is simply a brief description of your self. Say something like this "Learn how to swing like the Professionals with my Instant Golf Swing ebook.  Insert your link here. Now submit the article to an article directory or better yet a lot of directories
